A full-house of events this week from the mens tours, the ladies had the week off. All of the tournaments managed to set up and update a Twitter account, but only three took the tournament on to Facebook.
Sadly, the two European Tour events, The French Riviera Masters and the Open d’Italia only seemed to publish updates in the local language. This has a very limiting appeal to golf fans from anywhere else in the world! However, the language barrier was overcome by the Open d’Italia who posted a lot of photographs from the event. As you can see from this screen capture, a steady stream of photographs has resulted in a lot of Facebook followers Likes and Shares. The photographs have not only managed to capture the players, but a good spread of sponsors logos as well.
The big surprise this week was the lack of formal social media engagement from the Coca Cola Championship. We also experienced that rare occasion in US golf – a tournament without a web-page!
