How to add video into your golf club email newsletter

First, the bad news: Most email programs can’t play audio or video files directly (a plugin or another program is required), and so this content is often stripped from emails completely. Spam filters can also get tripped up on the code required to display videos and block emails from being delivered.

The good news is that there are a few ways you can get music and videos to your subscribers. Read on for more details.

Our golf email marketing platform has a really neat piece of coding that enables you to share a YouTube video via your newsletter.

It’s a simple three step process.

Step 1

Find your video on YouTube and use the ID at the end of the URL. For example, the video at this URL – would give you the code DCT3j8OqlhI

Step 2

In the text editor, you now need to add a Merge Tag. For the video in the example it looks like this:

It looks like this in the text editor

Step 3

Save and continue to edit your email newsletter.

The preview will show the Merge Tag.

If you use the Pop Up Preview, then the video will be displayed.

When you publish the newsletter, the video will appear to be embedded in the email. When your reader clicks on the Play icon, the video will automatically open on YouTube.

As you can see, three simple steps to share YouTube videos with your golf club newsletter readers.
