THE DIGITAL GOLFER has been around since 2010. It started out as a project to test new digital marketing ideas for my marketing agency customers. The first project was when I created a golf blog to follow all the tour pros who are using Twitter. This grew rapidly to more than 3,000 followers. I then created an app to test the market and was delighted when I got more than 500 downloads in the first few weeks. In the early days I took all that I learnt back to my client base of technology companies. But something was missing.

In the autumn of 2011 I decided that I wanted to focus more on golf clients and help them to take advantage of the fast moving worlds of social media marketing and digital marketing. I have built a range of services that delivers the marketing techniques and disciplines that I have used so successfully over the past few years. Now golf clubs, golf brands and golf events can easily use social media, websites and email marketing to reach out and connect with golfers who are eager to discover golf products, equipment, gadgets and courses like yours.

Meet THE Digital Golfer

My name is David Long and I have been a marketer since 1987. Over the years I have gained a huge wealth of marketing experience working for a wide range of organizations. In 2008 I created a digital marketing agency with offices in the UK and France. After selling off the French business in 2011 I looked for a new challenge and thus the idea for The Digital Golfer was born.
I have played golf since I was 13 and am very proud of the fact that my first job was in the same pro-shop as Barry Lane (Ryder Cup 1993). However, while Barry was preparing himself for the European Tour, I was collecting balls on the range!
